Share more about the Plan of Education in the home of P and how we structure our days. For more information about why we decided to educate at home, see this publication.
Hello friends! How are you? I hope you are having a wonderful morning. Today I have a couple of customer calls, fun at home, and we are going to make a walk in the afternoon. What are you doing?
For today’s publication, I wanted to chat more about how we structured our days now that we are in Hogar Week 3. It is worth mentioning here that every day is different and these are just boxes that we verify every day. The beauty of home education is that it is flexible. Take much less time than the traditional school, and you have the freedom to pause, change things or move things, depending on what is happening.
It is also worth mentioning here that I am not an expert and that I have a minimum experience in this area. I am the rookie of the rookies and I am solving this seriously as we advance. I am very grateful that there are experts in home education and friends who have offered help and advice; I will take all the advice I can get!
I am also very grateful to Brittany from a healthy portion of the life that jumped, jumped by phone with me when I sent him a super long voice message, he told me about the shelf and helped me discover a game plan. Check out your blog for information, recipes, travel and lifestyle at home, is incredible.
Although I am still solving this, I wanted to share this publication for my friends who are considering education at home, but they are super intimidated, as I was. I thought it would have to be a * teacher * to be good in this. You do not need to have experience in teaching. You only need to find the right curriculum (and know that you can change at any time), have a little patience and flexibility, and continue showing love and patience to your child. <3
Our home education plan and how we structure our days
For the most part, this is how the day goes:
We woke up and take Liv to school. We get home, P has breakfast, I take a little relaxed time in which I can play with toys, puzzles, build things, etc. (This is where I will update some emails or put work fires) and we started * school * at 9. I feel at the table with her and like my breakfast while we work together.
Almost the entire curriculum we are using is plug and play, which means you open the book, read the lesson, answer the questions and keep going. (Brittany recommended almost everything that below)
Mathematics- 20-30 minutes
We are using Nicole, the mathematical lady and sajonous mathematics. We used to use sajonous mathematics at the Girls School (they had changed to mathematics in focus) and knew that I wanted to return to Saxon. Nicole, the mathematical lady, teaches each lesson (approximately a 10-minute video with a cheesy brain break, which she loves) and then you have practice questions and 1-2 working sheets to complete. Enter children’s responses to the computer and track their qualifications. Each lesson takes us about 2 days to complete.
Grammar -20-30 minutes
For grammar, we are using master books, which is a faith -based curriculum. It includes study of images, memorization, punctuation, spelling, vocabulary, observation, poems, psalms, letters and practical application through creative writing. We just started, but I feel that she has already learned a lot from this textbook. He learned cursive this year, so he is working to answer the questions in italics.
Writing-20-30 minutes
For writing, we are doing the Fables, myths and fairy tales Write IEW lessons. It focuses on its structure and style method. At this time, he is working to read fables, make key contours and narration (to be able to tell the story again using his notes).
Reading – 20 minutes
I just want you to enjoy reading for now, so we are reading something super cheerful and fun together. This book has done the time test and loves. We both often meet at some point while I read about Fudge and his mischief.
Science + social studies / geography: approximately 2 times a week each
I am still trying to find a plan for this, but not so worried about that, since we are close to summer. For now, he is working to memorize the states, the capitals and be able to locate them on a map.
For science, we do a project every week. The first week, we dissect owls of owl, combine the bones in the bone classification lists and talk about what we find. Week 2, built an egg fall that we could fall from the balcony to the patio while keeping the egg intact. We talk about speed, severity, impulse, action and reaction. This week, he is working on the construction of a roller coaster.
As we are only planning home education until fifth grade, I will communicate with the LIV school to see what are the expectations for the increase of 5th grade students for social studies/studies/geography to be able to make sure we cover the bases.
Noon:
We take Maisey to walk and have lunch together, we update with a couple of tasks and discover a plan for the afternoon.
Late:
When we made this decision, I told P that I loved going out with her, but I couldn’t be its cruise director all day. In the afternoon before picking up Liv, I will have training calls, content creation, edition, podcast interviews, whatever you need to do in terms of work for a couple of hours. I also changed my work schedule, so I am working more on weekends or when the pilot is at the home of the airline training. (We start all this when he left, so I’ve been alone and calculating all this along the way). Saturday is a work bombing day now, and most of Sunday. In addition to the basketball game of P, I will write/work/edit almost all day until dinner.
In the afternoon, he will play with toys, he will work on something he enjoys (music, crochet, shooting hoops, etc.), and if I am caught with the work, I will take it to an inner playing place, to do mandados, and sometimes I will give you some screen time. As basketball has at night and we are chasing with LIV dance classes, it usually does not have screen time at night.
The days crawl. Sometimes I have an appointment in the morning, or teach a kind of bar, so we do the school in the afternoon, and we are also exploring some of the activities of education in the home of Tucson. There are so many excellent: Parkour, gymnastics, art, cooperatives, horsepower, music. I am excited to take a look!
This is how it goes for now! I am sure that it will change over time and my plan is to catch it with mathematics (the third grade book is now finishing and I am waiting to obtain the fourth grade and most of the fifth year next year while it is in the fourth grade). The other books are fourth grade books, so we will pass to the fifth when you complete them.
Hogar education allows you to meet the child where they are. If they are progressing quickly in a subject, you can progress with them or take more time in certain subjects if they need it.
If you have any idea for fun science projects or any social studies and geography resources, I would appreciate it very much! In addition, if there is any questions that can answer in future publications, please LMK!
Xoxo
