Families in Gaza Are Starving. What Can We Do?

For almost 22 months, people’s hearts have been breaking, through the borders, during the Israel-Gaza conflict. Parents in Gaza are losing their homes, their loved ones and their children, wrapped in white deaths. Doctors in Gaza operate in children, sometimes their own, without any anesthesia; American doctors visiting Gaza speak desperately. Families in Israel pray for the return of hostages and fear the growing anti -Semitism throughout the world; Hostage families almost unanimously ask for the high fire.

And now the Gazanes are starving due in large part to the blockade of humanitarian aid of Israel on the border. Mothers in Gaza cannot offer tranquility when their children ask: “Mom, when will we eat?” Parents have no formula or breast milk to feed their newborns. We observe from all over the world with growing horror; asking what we can do, how we can help, if we are in fact losing our heads, since we see videos of such famous children they have Licking a truck.

During the last week, people have been talking aloud about this star crisis in Gaza, described as “the worst case of famine.” Integrated Food Security Phase classification said recent developments, including “increasingly strict blocks” in Israel, have “dramatically worsened” the situation. The United Nations World Food Program declared that the hunger crisis in Gaza has reached “New and amazing levels of despair, with a third of the population that does not eat for several days in a row. “

Jewish leaders and organizations are also talking. A group of high -profile Israeli public figures demanded that “paralyzing sanctions” be imposed on Israel, demanding a high immediate fire and that Israel ends its blocking of food, water, medicine and power in Gaza. Two prominent Israeli rights groups, B WSELEM and doctors for Human Rights-Israel, declared that their country is committing genocide. The rabbis demanded that food aid reach familiar families in Gaza.

“There are no more calls as a Jewish mother than to feed babies and fill the bellies,” says writer Bess Kalb on Instagram. “This is simply ‘never again.’ Right now.”

What can we do? “There is no excuse for the world to maintain and see two million human beings suffer from the edge of the complete famine,” says José Andrés, the founder of World Central Kitchen. “This is not a natural disaster caused by drought or crop failures. It is a man -made crisis, and there are solutions made by man who could save lives today.” Andrés describes a four -step plan, which includes opening humanitarian runners to all help groups, which increases the production of hot food tens.

Gazanes must feel so trapped and desperate. If my children are hungry, I would like everyone in the world to stop and shout for help. Unique us to talk about the crisis in Gaza, then there are some ways to do so. Of course, add more ideas in the comments, if you have them. We are always eager to listen. XO

How to help:

1. Call your representatives (or MP) to demand that humanitarian aid be left in Gaza. Here is a script. Then send a text message to five people to call also: it only works when many people call.
2. Publish Gaza on social networks, hang a sign in your window (downloadable versions here) and talk to others: courage is contagious.
3. Done to humanitarian organizations, such as Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, World Central Kitchen and Gaza Souup Kitchen.

What would you add? How do you feel? Send a big hug to anyone who needs one. I know how emotional and tense are these problems. I would like to maintain space for those who are Jews, Muslims, Israeli and Palestinians, for whom it must be exponentially difficult. Share your thoughts below and send you so much love, as always.
