How To Make Your Nail Photos Look Better – Nailchemy Limited

Hello, hello beautiful people. I hope the post finds you all safe and healthy. A question I see a lot is “How can I make my nail photos look better?”

There are many ways to do it, but above all good lighting. A ring light or natural light lamp really helps when taking photos indoors, but natural sunlight is always better. Since I personally work from home and mobile, I find that a client’s home usually doesn’t have the best lighting to take my photos. I usually politely ask my clients, weather permitting, to come into their gardens and pose on some foliage or flowers.

These are my top personal tips on what to do and what not to do.

The octopus posture.

This pose looks particularly uncomfortable. It makes it look like there are too many fingers, customers have a tendency to push their fingers hard on the table, spread them apart and it looks very unnatural, so I don’t do this.

This photo is also a no-no. The customer’s fingers are crushed and uncomfortable. The pose also hides many of the nails, which is the point of the photo in the first place.

My personal least favorite pose, nicknamed “the Invisible Willy pose.” Although he shows all the nails on that hand, the nickname gives away what he looks like. Additionally, the filter applied to this shot is very unflattering and makes the client’s hands look red and sore.

This photo is much more flattering. The client’s hands are relaxed and comfortable. The mat makes the background non-reflective and easy on the eyes. Mats come in a variety of colors and materials; You can use anything from wallpaper samples to an old curtain.

These photographs use a variety of props. Props can help you pose your clients comfortably and in natural positions. Draws attention to hands and nails naturally. You can turn almost anything into a right-handed accessory, from cakes to cats to cars.

Neutral or complementary backgrounds help focus attention on the nail and a good camera focus on the nail helps show off your work.

And finally filters and editing. I know some will agree with the filters and some won’t. I think it’s a personal choice. I personally use the aviary app for my editing. I crop my photos first and then use the enhancement feature with the portrait filter. This softens clients’ skin without erasing nails. I then adjust the brightness and warmth to try to get the color in the photo as close as possible to how it looks in real life.
