When great things are happening … – Yoga trail talas

Recently I saw Bob Dylan’s movie “A Complete Unknown”, where we are going to take a look at a young Dylan playing the guitar in Tiny Little Nightclubs and Cafes in Greenwich Village. The small scale of these scenes made me smile. A welcome reminder of the value of small things. Those little concerts in small coffees shape their skills and their art and their voice. The value was not to come in, but what was happening at that time to that person and the small group that experienced him with him.

Very often our busy daily lives feel like large -scale productions, all in constant movement. And when great things are happening in the world (things beyond our control), it can make us feel that we are in a set of high production films. As if we were extras in a busy scene of the city that goes to things busy in our lives occupied like all other extras, and everything that the great story of the film happens about us.

So I’m sitting at the theater watching Bob Dylan in that little coffee with 15 people listening to his music, and I remember that little things matter more. The little reassuring smile that you give to that mother with the child who cries in the grocery store, matters more than the effort that was needed to find the time to reach the grocery store. The little mid -morning conversation he had with his mother retired, is more important than the holidays in which his Facebook friends are at this time. The time that passes with your small reading club is more important than the great important things that you could have been doing with that time.

We need to live in the world, even when great things are happening. But we can fight. We can end our day thinking about the little things we did.

Because they matter more.
