Sharing our plan for the 4th grade home education plan! Keep in mind that I am not a professional in this. We are discovering it as we move forward and it is our first full year of home education after finishing most of education at home last year. More about why we decided to educate at home in this publication. If you need expert advice, take a look at my friend Brittany!
Hello friends! How are you? I hope you are having an incredible day so far. We are officially back to school here. Liv started last week (eighth grade! I can’t even believe it) and we resume education today.
For today’s publication, I wanted to share a little more about our plan for this year and the curriculum we are doing if you are curious about home education.
I think it is worth mentioning here that Household education is not as discouraging as I thought it would be, Especially when we were considering him for the first time. We all want the best for our children, and I was really worried about failing. Now that we are in the world of education at home, I can tell you that it is thriving. She is learning a lot and we can customize her plan based on her interest and levels. We can also progress more quickly, which keeps her interested.
Our fourth -grade home education plan
This is what we plan to do this year, but you can always change or adjust as necessary.
Mathematics (30 minutes)
We continue with the Saxon and Nicole The Math Lady mathematics because P loves her and does incredible job teaching the Saxons lessons. Your software is also responsible for the qualification, so P will enter your responses to the platform and receive a qualification for each task. It is attractive and concise, we love it.
Reading (30 minutes)
I want to keep reading pleasant, so she chose a book that we will read together and discuss as we move forward. We are starting with The lion, the witch and the closet.
Writing + grammar (30 minutes)
For grammar, we are still using master books, which is a faith -based curriculum. It includes study of images, memorization, punctuation, spelling, vocabulary, observation, poems, psalms, letters and practical application through creative writing.
To write, we are doing the fables, myths and fairy tales that write IEW lessons. It focuses on its structure and style method. At this time, he is working to read fables, make key contours and narration (to be able to tell the story again using his notes).
I asked for the fourth grade books last semester and when they finish these, we will go to the fifth grade books.
We are also working on a research work every quarter, based on an interest. His first will be about bullfights after our trip to the Museum of Lacks forces in Seville.
Social Studies (30 minutes)
I have asked for a couple of history books to work, and also a back book on how to draw the United States. She is excited to start with that first and label every state, capital, rivers, etc.
Science (only Fridays)
I am still working on science plans. Last year, the thing of home education happened quite abruptly, so we just did a scientific project every week on Fridays. I will probably keep Friday as Science Day, but I was thinking of ordering some monthly kits. If you have any science kit recs, send them to my way!
Last year, we did things like dissecting owl pellets, making an egg drop and building a roller coaster.
ART/FUN/PE/Extra (a couple of times during the week)
We have a couple of extra fun things this year, including the farm school, which is a day every week. It is only for two hours and can ride, help with animals and create art on the farm. She also has one of Parkour’s classes of home education. Between those two things and the basketball practices of his club, he still has the opportunity to be close to other children and play weekly, and I am grateful for that.
Task:
We started using Khan Academy after a couple of good friends recommended it and so far we have impressed a lot. When education at home, there really is no need for a task, but I wanted P to remain in the pace of having a task * small * because the plan is that she returns to school in person eventually. (I also feel that it makes sense since LIV has homework every day).
For the task, it is doing 20 minutes of mathematics from the Khan Academy and then 15-20 minutes of reading, grammar or coding.
Some frequent questions for home education
How did you find a home education curriculum?
Brittany was very kind when he spent a lot of time with me on the phone. She asked about the interests of P and shared ideas. He made home education much less intimidating and I am very grateful for his advice. He has also educated his children at home, which makes me hope in case P does not return to school in person next week.
How long has it taken to education at home?
The most beautiful thing about home education is that it is 1: 1 focused care, so you don’t need almost so much time. Much of the school in person is spent playing children and trying to listen and pay attention.
We can finish everything we need to do during the day in approximately two hours, which leaves the rest of the open day. You can use this time to persuade the things in which it is interesting (such as art, crochet or practice piano), or we can enjoy a small excursion or excursion.
How can you work from home and education at home?
This is the part that I am still trying to navigate. I call most of my content during the weekend to be able to concentrate on the children and the things of the house as much as possible during the week. I also started programming customer calls and podcast interviews when the pilot is at home, because when he is not traveling, he is a dad teacher and can take care of home education tasks.
I feel that I am moving at 1000 mph because the solo breeding takes the approach/attention/energy/full effort, and then, when he is at home, I crush myself to work trying to catch up with everything. I just need to understand this schedule and find my rhythm.
Ok Friends: What are your children doing this year? Hogar education breasts: Any advice while we headed to our first full year?
I hope you have an amazing day and I will see you soon!
