This is one of our favorite conversions. A high ceiling barn in Villanova became a discreet and majestic house full of light. I love good taste and elegant but not too formal furniture for this renovation of barn.

Butler’s kitchen and pantry cabinets chosen for this barn renewal are Fabuwood Galaxy Frost. The countertops are from Steatita. The barros room cabinets are Fabuwood Galaxy Cobblestone and the clay hall countertops are Butcherblock.

Our avid blog readers can notice a stove and a bell in front of a window. They would know that we will often warn this. In this renovation of barn, both are fine for two reasons. First, the outer stone wall has 12 inches thick, so the window is further from the cabin. Second, the window is also 12 inches from the level of the stove that adds to that distance.

For those who do not “know”, the danger of placing a cabin in front of a window is that a burst of wind from an open window could blow the flames in the cabin burners. This could allow gas dangerously to fill the room. Or curtains can be placed in the windows creating a fire danger. Finally, the heat of burners could break the seal in the isolated glass in the windows. Fortunately, the combined distance between the kitchen and the window makes the renewal safe. While the window on the range is fixed and does not open as seen here.
