New York’s short stories are consistently excellent, as well as the north -spooky northern Emma Cline and Rebecca Makkai Rollicking the Plaza, and last night, I loved to go up to bed, open the current number and see the Colm Tóibín byline. The Irish author writes some of my favorite books. I fainted before going too far in history, but tonight my plan is to give a long walk and listen to Tóibín reads it himself.
