I love fried food. But it is worth it. And let me tell you that my crispy tacos of ground meat, fried squid and churros are worth it. These shrimp also fall into that category.

Each Japanese inspiration restaurant I am going to, I have to try their rock shrimp or their Bang Bang shrimp. I think that the versions of Nobu and Yunomi are incredible and this version is inspired by his.

Ingredients for Bang Bang shrimp

Ingredients in Bang Bang shrimp. Ingredients in Bang Bang shrimp.
  1. Shrimp – I like using large size. I like to remove the housing and tail for frying.
  2. Bright water – This makes it a super light mass. I like to use San Pellegrino or a can of the club’s soda. This mass is similar to my low fish taco recipe.
  3. Sweet Thai sauce – This will give our Bang Bang shrimp sauce the perfect color and spicy and sweet balance.
  4. Sesame oil – I love adding this to the cabbage salad because add the most delicious salty flavor.

Recipe Council

  • Medium -sized shrimp against large shrimp. I prefer the medium size. Both will work very well but medium size give you another snack of the size of a bite.
  • Serve this as tacos or in a sandwich. I have made them both ways and they are delicious!
