Hello friends! How is your day? I hope you are having a wonderful morning. How about a bit of breakfast for breakfast? Well, stay with me, it’s not as shameless as it sounds! It is one of my favorite recipes for healthy desserts and you can also enjoy it as a breakfast after training!

I have a super easy and delicious recipe to share with you today for a delicious homemade protein ice cream!

(I added peanut butter and chocolate pieces to this lot and it was a dreaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Homemade protein ice cream

We all know that protein is important. Not only is the most satisfactory macronutrient, protein is also the construction block for our cells. It is important in the world of fitness/health because it can help us build and retain muscle, which is especially crucial as we age. We want to build and protect our muscles to help our bones and also protect our metabolism, since the muscle is “hunger” than fat and has a greater demand for energy.

I tend to recommend about 1-2 grams of protein due to ideal body weight pound (depending on so many factors, such as body composition, age, objectives, the preferred feeding strategy, etc.), but I like to point 1 portion of the size of the palm in each meal and refrigerium.

This protein ice cream is a creamy and tasty dessert, which includes an impressive portion of protein. It is an excellent way to add variety to its protein sources while enjoying a sweet gift. I am sharing the recipe with you today so you can recreate it at home!

Is protein ice cream healthy?

This high protein ice cream recipe is a great healthy gift, especially because it includes some healthy fats (coconut milk) and can add any ingredient you want, such as peanut butter, nuts or fruits. Keep in mind that this should not be a substitute for a traditional * real ice cream * if that is what is craving, but it is not that “other” false ice cream made with frozen bananas. If you long for regular ice cream like Ben and Jerry’s and try to do this as a substitute, it will not fill the void for you. 😉 Have part of the true business, enjoy it and keep going with your life.

However, if you have already had a protein shake and you are looking to add another option full of proteins to your day and want something that you know to a sweet gift, take a turn! You could eat it every day as part of a balanced plan that includes lean proteins, smart carbohydrates and healthy fats.

Ingredients

  • Protein powder of choice: serum protein dust and pea protein dust will work better. This step is important and be sure to use a protein powder that loves! If you are looking for ideas, try Truvani or now food (use fitnessist for a 20% discount). Choose a protein dust that has a good texture and have good taste, this is crucial. You can use vanilla protein powder or chocolate protein powder, depending on the taste of the ice cream you would like to do.
  • Full fat coconut milk can also use almond milk without sugar, but coconut milk will give you the rich taste and texture. If you are not free of dairy, you can use absolutely whole milk (which I recommend for taste, texture and nutrients about skim milk)
  • Vanilla extract
  • Sea salt
  • Stevia to taste* (you can also use Arce syrup if you don’t like the taste of stevia. I avoid other artificial sugars because sugar alcohols bother my stomach)
  • For chocolate protein ice cream: 4 oz semi-dulce chocolate chips

How to make homemade protein ice cream

Step 1

Make sure your ice cream manufacturer is frozen! If not, prepare the day before the ice cream. You can also do the ice cream in a pan, but it will have a different texture.

Step 2

In a saucepan in the stove, add the milk, chocolate sparks, vanilla and marine salt, and slow down. As chocolate chips melt, it gathers powder protein. Dip a spoon in the mixture (be sure to cool before trying!) And add any sweetener you want as necessary.

Step 3

Pour the mixture in the ice cream manufacturer (I love my cream ninja) and turn it on. It will take 20-30 minutes until you have a soft service consistency. For a firmer ice cream, place the mixture in a pan and freeze for 3-4 hours. (You can also use a blender or food processor in case of trouble).

Step 4

Take out any portion you want and enjoy! Add any of the ingredients or mixtures below to customize your flavors!
