When I met Freddie last fall…
…and he gave me his number, I entered it into my phone as “Freddie Sopranos.” His Hinge profile had mentioned not once, but twice, how much he loved the HBO show. I’d never seen it before, so I started looking, curious to see what all the fuss was about. and to get to know Freddie better. I wanted to know what made him laugh, what made him think.
Much of what we love (books, movies, sports, hobbies, people, pets, sandwiches, you name it) reflects us and our sense of humor, passions, and sometimes even visions. of the world, don’t you think? think? All those trappings are a really fun part of getting to know someone.
For me, I’m always curious to see if a guy will find When Harry Met Sally as funny and timeless as I do, or if he’ll dismiss a romantic comedy with a laugh and an eye roll. The book Olive Kitteridge brought me to my knees (the way people’s lives are portrayed with so much nuance and empathy, without too trivial details) and I wonder: will a potential partner relate to that approach? Plus cheese, haha. I mean, you don’t have eat cheese, but it helps.
Freddie Soprano and me
So tell me: when you go out, what books/movies/music do you like to show your new partner? What do you find important or even representative of yourself? I would love to hear…
