Winter skin care routine – The Fitnessista

I’m sharing my current winter skincare routine, from luxurious moisturizers to exfoliating masks, using safer products.

Hello friends! How are you all? I hope you are enjoying the winter season so far and are able to stay warm in the winter weather!

For today’s post, I’ll be sharing my winter skincare routine, including how to protect it and ways to help it feel soft and hydrated.

He colder the outside air (after all, I live in Arizona!) and the dry heat inside strip my skin of its natural moisture, leaving it prone to dryness during the winter months; So changing up my skincare routine this time of year is key to helping my skin retain moisture and maintaining a healthy, happy complexion. Keep scrolling to find out the details of my personal skincare routine that I recommend for hydrated and radiant skin, especially on cold, dry winter days.

The first step is a gentle cleanser that removes makeup and impurities without being overly drying, an important step for any skin type, but especially if you have sensitive skin. Next, I incorporate my beloved vitamin C serum that’s loaded with antioxidants and a hydrating moisturizer with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides to help hydrate the skin, lock in moisture, and repair the skin barrier.

Additionally, a weekly exfoliation with a gentle scrub or chemical exfoliant can remove dead skin cells and promote a radiant glow. I alternate between my favorite masks, listed below.

Finally, applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen, even on cloudy days, ensures protection against harmful UV rays. This is my option.

This is what my winter skincare routine looks like. It changes and evolves over time with new products I find or like, but these are many of my tried and true favorites.

My winter skincare routine

Cleanser and serums

Using the right cleanser and serum is essential for an effective winter skincare routine. Opt for a moisturizing serum and cream or oil-based cleansers that will protect your skin’s moisture barrier, while avoiding any products with harsh, drying ingredients like sulfates.

Scrubs and masks

Scrubs and masks are great for removing built-up dirt, grime, and dead skin cells, while masks can revitalize and restore skin, leaving it with a natural, radiant glow.

Moisturizing creams

Arguably the most important part of any winter skincare routine is moisturizer. Look for products with ultra-hydrating ingredients, like shea butter, for longer-lasting hydration, even on the driest winter days.

Tools

Although not completely necessary for an effective skin care routine, the right tools can make things easier and even improve results.
