Tips for picky eaters
Meal planning with this week’s recipes is so easy to customize for your family! Here are some tips to make these meals work for even the pickiest of eaters:
- Strain vegetables: Mix spinach or carrots into lasagna sauce or cheeseburger soup to get extra nutrients without anyone noticing.
- Customizable ingredients: Let everyone build their own taco pizza or their own Hawaiian haystack. Kids love having control over their dishes!
- Tone down the spices: For Korean ground beef, use less sauce or switch to a mild teriyaki glaze if your kids don’t like spicy flavors.
- Swap ingredients: Not a fan of pineapple in Hawaiian haystacks? Use diced apples or grapes for a sweet, crunchy touch.
- Make it fun: Cut taco pizza into fun shapes, add colorful toppings, or serve cheeseburger soup with a side of crackers for dipping.
- Go simple: Use plain pasta in lasagna or omit the onions in soup for kids who prefer simpler flavors.
- Add your favorites: Sprinkle more cheese on almost anything – it’s an easy way to win them over!

Storing leftovers for meal planning
I only meal plan Monday through Friday because sometimes we have plans for the weekend or I have leftovers we can have to finish the week! If you have leftovers, be sure to store them properly in an airtight container in your refrigerator.
