Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Celebrates New Summer Milestones

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library makes a new page this summer while the program celebrates new milestones in early childhood literacy, while continuing its expansion efforts to inspire love for reading in children around the world.

Dolly’s child literacy program now gives more than 3 million books every month and, as of June 2025, the Imagination Library has given more than 284 million books to children throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and the Republic of Ireland.

Canada marks a milestone and honors indigenous voices

In Canada, the Imagination Library recently marked an important milestone: more than 4 million books have been given to families throughout the country since the Canadian program was launched in 2006. This achievement reflects decades of work by hundreds of local partners and volunteers throughout the country.

In 2025, the program continues its commitment to representation and inclusion with a strong approach to indigenous narrative. Of the 70 books selected for the selection of Canada’s books, eight are written or illustrated by indigenous Canadians, each a reflection of the rich cultural heritage and the diversity of the communities of first nations, Inuit and Métis.

Oregon achieves the state expansion of the Imagination Library

In Oregon, the Imagination Library has reached a historical milestone a year after its state launch. Now every child under five years in Oregon is eligible to receive a free imagination library book every month, thanks to a basic effort backed by state and local partners.

In just one year, registration has grown from approximately 54,000 to more than 65,000 children, an increase of more than 11,000 young readers. Registration is available for children from birth to five years in each postal code in Oregon, and parents can register their child online at any time in imaginationLibrary.com.

The book bilingual collection in English/Spanish expands to 16 more states

After successfully launching its English/Spanish bilingual program in California in 2023, the Imagination Library extended the collection to five additional states in 2024: Tennessee, DC, North Carolina, Ohio and Delaware. This summer, the bilingual collection of books in English/Spanish is being implemented in 16 more states!

Now, families in Washington, Colorado, Montana, Kansas, Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, Kentucky, Maine, Illinois, Oregon, Indiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, Virginia Occidental and New Mexico can choose to receive books both in Spanish and Spanish every month, of the registration to the CIFT birthday of his son. Parents can also select their preferred language for all communications of the program. By continuing to expand its bilingual offers, the Imagination Library takes an important step to provide equitable access to high quality children’s books for families of all languages.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love for reading and learning giving books, free of charge, to families through funds shared by Dolly and the partners of the local community. Summer is a wonderful time of the year to cause imagination, not only spending more time playing, but also spending more time reading!
